Recommended Equipment

  • Camera Bodies: 1 primary full-frame + 1 backup body (mirrorless preferred).
  • Lenses: 16–35mm (landscape/seascape), 24–70mm (general), 70–200mm (portrait/wildlife), 100–400mm or longer (wildlife).
  • Underwater housing or GoPro Hero 12 for snorkeling sequences.
  • Sturdy travel tripod, ND filters (3-stop, 6-stop, 10-stop), polarizer, lens cloths, silica gel.
  • Plenty of memory cards (256GB+ x 4) and at least 2 spare batteries per body.
  • Portable hard drive (2TB) and laptop for daily back-up and editing.
  • Universal power adapter (Myanmar uses Type C, D, F, G — bring a multi-plug).

Best Light Windows

  • Golden Hour Morning: 06:00 – 07:30.
  • Golden Hour Evening: 17:00 – 18:30.
  • Blue Hour: 18:30 – 19:15 (ideal for pagodas and harbors).
  • Aerial Saturation Peak: 11:00 – 14:00 (for turquoise water tones).
  • Astro Photography: After 21:00, especially on Days 6–8 (Kawthaung region).

Cultural Etiquette for Photographers

  • Always ask permission before photographing locals, especially Moken families and monks.
  • Remove shoes and socks before entering pagodas; shoulders and knees should be covered.
  • Avoid pointing feet at Buddha images and never touch sacred objects.
  • Drones are restricted in many areas — our team will arrange all required permits in advance.
  • Small gifts (notebooks, pens, fruit) are appreciated by Moken communities — never give money to children.
